Councillors – Your Representatives

Inverell Shire Council is made up of nine (9) elected members (Councillors), one of whom is the Mayor. The elected members are elected by residents and ratepayers of the Shire every four (4) years, The last general election was held in December 2021. Due to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic postponing the election by one (1) year, the candidates elected at the December 2021 NSW Local Government Elections will only serve a three (3) year term.

The elected members should reflect the views of the community and be primarily responsible for making decisions on policy matters and the allocation of funds for Council’s services. In September each year, the nine (9) elected members elect a Mayor and a Deputy Mayor for the ensuing two (2) years.
