Oliver Street now open to traffic
17 December 2020
THIS WEEK Inverell Shire Council mayor, Paul Harmon, inspected the newly completed extension of Oliver Street, between Arthur Street and Swanbrook Road.
Cr Harmon says he expects the Oliver Street extension will be well received by motorists and will ease congestion around the intersection of Swanbrook Road and Ashford Road.
“This area of Inverell has become an increasingly busy precinct and sees a high volume of traffic each day”.
“Connecting Oliver Street to Swanbrook Road will enable delivery drivers, customers and through traffic to access Oliver Street businesses easily and safely. It also provides a direct link to the centre of town”.
Cr Harmon commended Council staff for completing the project on time and on budget and outlined the next steps for the adjacent roadworks in Arthur Street.
“Now that the road extension has been completed, Council staff will move on to the next phase, which will be construction of a cul-de-sac in Arthur Street, and new kerb and guttering on the southern side of Swanbrook Road”.
These additional works will commence early in the New Year.
