Roadworks Affecting Traffic
A listing of all current advertised roadworks and road closures affecting traffic flow within the Inverell Shire.
TOWN CENTRE RENEWAL PLAN (TCRP) – BYRON STREET
Inverell Shire Council wishes to advise that, weather permitting, roadwork will be undertaken on Byron Street between Vivian and Lawrence Streets. Works are scheduled to commence Thursday, 14 January 2021 and continue for sixteen (16) weeks.
During this time traffic conditions will be varied depending on the stage of construction being undertaken.
Initially work will commence on the western side of Byron Street, between Vivian and Lawrence Streets. This will continue for six (6) weeks and traffic flow will be as follows:
– Full closure of the north-east bound lane.
– South-west bound lane open to traffic and parallel parking permitted adjacent to this lane.
– No access to Brissett Lane from Byron Street.
At the end of the initial six (6) week period, traffic conditions will change and Council will provide updated details beforehand. Pedestrian accessibility will be maintained on both sides of Byron Street throughout the entire works program.

Gwydir Highway, Swanvale
Inverell Shire Council wishes to advise that weather permitting, roadwork will be undertaken on the Gwydir Highway, between Spring Mountain Road and Swanvale, commencing Tuesday, 6 October 2020 and continuing until approximately Sunday, 31 January, 2021.
During this time the works will be under traffic control and short delays can be expected.
Members of the public are requested to exercise care and consideration when travelling through the worksite. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
