Free Access To Pools
18 December 2019
WITH weekend temperatures set to break the forty degree threshold, Inverell Council is helping locals beat the heat with free access to the shire’s public pools.
Mayor Paul Harmon says both Inverell and Ashford public swimming pools will be open across the weekend, with residents of all ages offered free entry between the hours of 10am – 2pm.
Cr Harmon says with the school holidays starting this week, he expects many residents and visitors to take to the water.
“Being on a weekend, mums and dads who may be at work through the week can also head along to the pool and enjoy some free respite from the heat”.
“Council appreciates how much the community is suffering at the moment and I’m delighted we are able offer some small respite from the day-to-day pressures of drought and bushfires”.
Cr Harmon acknowledged the support of the NSW Government and also thanked pool contractor, Community Aquatics for their cooperation and arranging staffing across what is predicted to be a very busy weekend.
“Obviously, we also encourage residents to be sun smart when having fun outdoors by staying hydrated, wearing a hat and sunglasses, and applying sunscreen throughout the day,” Cr Harmon said.
