September 2025 Council Meeting

INVERELL Shire Council held its September Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday, 24th September 2025.
The following items were of note;
- > Council delegates provided a report regarding the Australian Local Government Women’s Association (ALGWA) Conference held in Griffith.
- > Council supports, in principle, the Murray Darling Association’s urgent call for the Federal Government to fund and implement the National Carp Control Plan and its recommendations.
- > Council resolved to submit a motion to the Local Government NSW Annual Conference regarding the broadening of investments available to Councils.
- > Council adopted further policies as its policy review continues.
- > Council endorsed the Inverell Pre-Event Recovery Plan.
- > Council determined to be proactive in the ongoing promotion and implementation of the smoke free CBD, including the placement of additional signage on seats and bins.
- > The Active Leak Detection Project has proven very effective in identifying leaks and demonstrated overall an efficient network.
- > Council resolved to endorse the concept plan for upgrades to Tingha playground following comprehensive community consultation.
- > Inverell Shire Council Mayor Cr Kate Dight addressed the Health Services Amendment (Splitting of Hunter New England Health District) Bill 2025 Inquiry.
- > Council discussed a report into the effects on Rural and Regional communities in regards to Renewable Energy Zones.
- > Council will continue to monitor information and impacts regarding the NSW Planning Reform Bill 2025.
- > Council was presented with the draft General & Special Purpose Financial Reports 2024/2025, which were endorsed for audit.
- > Council resolved to award the tender for 2025/2026 Traffic Management Services to RTT Wall Pty Ltd (One Way Traffic Control).
Inverell Shire Council will hold its next meeting for 2025 on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025.
