Parking

Inverell Shire Council offers timed parking in the Central Business District. Parking within the CBD is monitored by Council’s Compliance Officers.

Within Inverell’s central business district (CBD), parking officers monitor the following time zone parking restrictions:

• Monday to Friday: 8:00am till 6:00pm
• Saturday: 8:30am till 12:00pm

Disabled parking spaces, loading zones, no parking and no stopping zones are enforceable at any time.

To ensure regular movement of vehicles in the Inverell CBD and the availability of parking spaces, Council Compliance Officers regularly patrol car parking areas. While Council officers issue infringement notices, Council are unable to review or waive fines.

Reviewing an Infringement
We understand that sometimes people may believe that an infringement was issued incorrectly or unfairly.

Revenue NSW adjudicates and administers all infringement notices and fines for Council. This means that only Revenue NSW can waive fines.

Revenue NSW also acknowledges that under certain circumstances, a person may have grounds to request a review of the issuing of a parking infringement.

For more information visit the Revenue NSW website.

Paying Fines
Revenue NSW receipts and processes infringement notices and fines (e.g. parking) issued by Council officers. You have 21 day from the date of issue to pay your fine.

For full and up-to-date information on fines, penalties, infringement notices and payment options contact Revenue NSW.

The parking of motor vehicles on footpaths / nature strips offering them for sale is an offence under the Road Rules. This is legislation set by the State Government, and it is council’s responsibility to enforce these rules.

A footpath / nature strip is defined as an area between the road and adjacent land (eg the area between your letterbox and the roadway).

Motorists must ensure the footpath area is kept clear to ensure the safety of pedestrians and prevent them from being forced to walk on the road.

When council identifies an issue, a warning may be issued to the registered vehicle owner. However, based on potential danger to the public and other road users, a warning may not always apply, and vehicle owners may receive a fine in the first instance.
