e-Waste Collection Proves Popular

IN SEARING conditions, close to nine tonnes of waste was collected by the Inverell Macintyre Lions Club, in conjunction with Council, as part of their ninth annual white goods and e-Waste collection this past weekend.

With their total waste collection reaching roughly 97 tonnes in 9 years of service, Inverell Macintyre Lions Club publicity officer, Bill Sutton, explained how the popular project assists the Inverell residents each year.

“The Inverell Macintyre Lions Club treats this day as their main environmental day of the year and has pleasure in assisting Inverell Shire Council in providing the community with this free service.”

Volunteers weighed in approximately 9 tonnes at Inverell Community Recycling Centre on Sunday, where it will be stripped for parts and before being recycled.

“We have been informed that the total pick-up last Sunday weighed in at 8.98 tonnes and we had quite a number of weary members following the pick-up.”

“We collected waste products from 144 different properties and had 25 members and helpers involved on the day with seven collection vehicles, and our Club thanks the helpers for their efforts.”

Mr Sutton went on to express the Club’s gratitude in assisting the community with this service they provide each year.

“The Inverell Macintyre Lions Club is pleased to be able to include this project in with the other projects that they do throughout the year for the community, and hope that they will be able to continue this service to the community in the future.”
