Council Services Continue

27 August 2021

INVERELL Shire Council will continue to provide services to the community, both online and via phone, while the NSW Government’s stay at home orders are in place for regional NSW.

General Manager Paul Henry said that while the administration centre, library and tourism offices are closed to the public, Council staff will be continuing to work to deliver services for the community.

“Our customer service phone line will continue to operate, and we have a range of ways that the community can continue to do business with us,” Mr Henry said.

“Council’s Customer Service team are available 8.30am – 4.30pm weekdays and are able to assist with any enquiries (02) 6728 8288.”

With rate and water payments falling due on 31 August 2021, ratepayers are encouraged to make rates and water payments by electronic payment methods, credit card payments over the phone or via Council’s website.

“We understand that ratepayers and businesses may also experience financial difficulties as a result of the current COVID lockdowns and we encourage you to call our Revenue Team on (02) 6728 8201 to discuss your options or set up a payment plan.”

Mr Henry added essential services, such as water, waste, sewer, works and maintenance services will continue, along with essential inspections and regulatory functions.

“These will all be undertaken with appropriate COVID-safe measures in place.”

Council’s website and social media pages will continue to be updated with relevant information about the operation of council facilities and services.

Services that remain open are:

  • Waste facilities will remain as normal, including landfill and waste transfer stations. Please sign in via QR code and follow staff and signage instructions. Contactless payment is preferred at Inverell Landfill;
  • Kerbside waste and recycling collections will remain as normal;
  • Inverell Pound is currently open, however bookings are essential – please call (02) 6728 8200; and
  • Shared pathways, parks and public amenities will remain open for people to enjoy exercise, however, residents are asked to adhere to the Public Health Order – exercise outdoors in groups of no more than 2 (excluding members of the same household).
