Sonic under the stars

THE SCHOOL holidays will be jam-packed full of fun this April; with Inverell Shire Council set to host a free outdoor movie night at Varley Oval next week.

Gates will open from 4.30pm on Saturday, 17 April 2021, for a 6.00pm screening of Sonic the Hedgehog (PG).

Inverell Shire Council mayor, Paul Harmon says the event will be a fun night out for families and friends, with food and drink stalls available and prizes to be drawn for lucky winners throughout the night.

“Thanks to support from the NSW Government, Council are able to provide our young residents and their families with free activities throughout the school holidays.”

“A wide array of food and drink stalls will be sure to keep everyone satisfied throughout the night with various snacks and meals available, while prize draws will have the crowd hungry for a win.”

Cr Harmon encouraged residents to grab a picnic blanket or a chair and come down for a night full of fun in a relaxed setting.

“It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come down, have an inexpensive night out and watch a movie under the stars.”

COVID-19 safety protocols will apply, with a mandatory COVID check in point at the gate, social distancing strongly encouraged and sanitiser stations being dispersed around the venue.

“COVID check in via QR code will be required at the gate as people arrive. There will also be assistance available for anyone who needs a hand checking in or who does not have access to a smart phone or QR code scanner.”

“We encourage all attendees to maintain physical distancing from people you don’t live with and to practice good hand hygiene.”

“If you are unwell, please do not attend the event – get tested and stay home.”
