Inverell Shire Council’s COVID-19 Response

IN response to the NSW Government’s announcement of a snap 7-day lockdown for regional New South Wales, Inverell Shire Council will be implementing a number of measures to adhere to the Public Health Order. 

Community facilities that will close are:

  • Face to Face customer service at the Council Administration Centre in Otho Street, Inverell;
  • Inverell Shire Library – 24/7 digital library resources are available at https://bit.ly/37JGEIO; and
  • Tourism Inverell is closed

Services that will remain open are:

  • Waste facilities will remain as normal, including landfill and waste transfer stations. Sites are for essential use only (the disposal of waste for health and safety reasons). Please ensure you continue to sign in via QR code and follow staff and signage instructions. Contactless payment is preferred at Inverell Landfill;
  • Kerbside waste and recycling collections will remain as normal;
  • Inverell Pound is currently open, however, it is essential for any visitors to make arrangements to visit by calling 02 6728 8200; and
  • Shared pathways and parks will remain open for people to enjoy exercise, however, residents are asked to adhere to the Public Health Order – exercise outdoors in groups of no more than 2 (excluding members of the same household).

Inverell Shire Council’s General Manager Paul Henry said the organisation will continue to deliver essential services as normal.

“Our staff will be busy behind the scenes to continue to provide services to our community and while we are limiting face-to-face contact, we are only a phone call away.”

“Our website www.inverell.nsw.gov.au can process contactless payments, has interactive maps and out latest media updates; and we are also encouraging the community to connect with us on social media.”

Council’s Customer Service team will also be available 8.30am to 4.30pm weekdays and are able to assist with any enquiries on 02 6728 8288.

The Council Administration Centre will be closed to face-to-face customer service during the 7-day lockdown.
