An important milestone has been reached this month with Inverell’s pilot White Ribbon Community project. The project, which has been running for about a year, aims to prevent domestic and family violence, has released a community-wide survey and now needs residents to complete it.

Hashtags, followers, handles and Siri know-how will be the focus of a new suite of tech workshops being offered to women in business during April. The workshops, to be led by digital marketing maven Louise Scott, are the latest in a 6-month program to boost the bottom line for small business.
NBN™ network construction is due to begin in Inverell! The nbn™ network is Australia’s new fast and reliable landline phone and internet network. Construction of the nbn™ network will start in Inverell to connect more than 4660 premises to the nbn™ fixed line network.

More than 30 local businesses will be spruced up, fine-tuned and revamped this week under the expert eye of retail marketer Carol Bagaric. The visit is part of a joint initiative between Inverell Shire Council and Inverell Chamber of Commerce and brings Ms. Bagaric to the doorstep of Inverell businesses.

Local youth are being offered a free opportunity to learn the skills to save a life, with a CPR workshop to be held 12 April in Inverell. The four-hour workshop is part of a year long youth activities calendar being led by Inverell Shire Council.

Ashford’s main street is witnessing a bold and eye-catching artwork unfold this week, as part of a new youth-based program in Inverell Shire. The Albury Street mural installation at the front of the Rural Transaction Centre is being headed by artist Kelly Jones, whose vivid works of art have built an avid following.

Inverell’s Shire’s inaugural nine-day Cod Cash fishing tournament continues to gather momentum and this week captured international attention from a Japanese film crew. This week Council met with the Japanese visitors, including film director Tomohide Maeda to market Copeton as a travel destination and also feature the mighty Murray Cod.

A tailor-made program for youth in Inverell Shire has been unveiled this week by Council, inviting locals aged 12-20 years to join a free twilight kayak paddle at Lake Inverell. The It Starts with You! program, a 12 month initiative led by Inverell Shire Council will offer a series of free events.

The Sapphire City Cod Cash competition has announced its major sponsor ahead of the April event. The nine-day competitive fishing event has secured MO Tackle and Outdoors as its major sponsor and will offer an overall prize pool in excess of $25,000 to anglers.
