Council Meeting (Ordinary)

Ordinary Meetings of Council are conducted on the fourth Wednesday of each month and held in the Council Chambers, Administrative Centre, 144 Otho Street, Inverell.

Members of the public are most welcome to attend these meetings. Matters for discussion are listed in Council’s Business Paper, of which printed copies are available for perusal at Council’s Administrative Centre, the Library in Campbell Street, or in the Council Chambers public gallery on the day of the meeting. Webcasting of Meetings

As of 14 December 2019 all meetings of the council and committees of the council are to be webcast on the council’s website as per Clause 5.19 in the Code of Meeting Practice.

Attend a Meeting

Members of the public are most welcome to attend these meetings. Council encourages community input and residents are reminded that Council conducts a 30-minute public forum session at every Ordinary Meeting of Council. Residents are welcome to make verbal submissions to Council not exceeding five (5) minutes on any matter and in accordance with the Conditions of Access.

If you would like to participate in the Public Forum, please complete and return the Public Access Forum Application Form prior to the commencement of the meeting. The Code of Meeting Practice and Code of Conduct are also available for you to download and read.

With the assistance of Radio 2NZ, Council conducts a regular talk-back show. Residents may phone in and discuss any matter of concern with the Mayor and General Manager.

S375A Record of Voting on Planning Matters

Under section 375(A) of the Local Government Act 1993, a Division is required to be called whenever a motion for a planning decision is put at a meeting of the Council or a Council Committee. Council maintains a register of Councillor voting on planning matters.
