Library Services

The Inverell Public Library has many services they offer to all members of the public, these are detailed below.

YOUTH SERVICES

The library has dedicated children’s and youth areas and collections. Trained staff are available to assist with reading and homework inquiries. Children and parents are welcome to participate in the various storytime sessions held in the library and in the popular school holiday activities. Please refer to the Library News and Events page for further details.

GROUP/SCHOOL VISITS

Group/school visits are very welcome. Please contact library staff if you would like to organise a library visit, or have a library staff member make a presentation to your organisation.

COLLECTION

The library holds approximately 50 000 items available for public use. The collections include books, magazines, talking books, DVD’s and music CD’s. Customer suggestions are always welcome and will be considered when collection purchases are made.

HOME LIBRARY SERVICE

The library provides a home library service for people who are genuinely housebound and living within Inverell’s town limits. Please ask the Library staff for more information about this service.

INFORMATION REQUESTS

Library staff are available to assist with Information requests. Library staff are available to explain how to use the library catalogue, electronic resources, and other library collections and facilities upon request. Appointments may be required for more complex inquiries.

INTER-LIBRARY LOANS SERVICE

Items which are not held by the library may be accessed through the library’s Inter-library Loans Service. A small charge will apply.

LOCAL STUDIES SERVICES

The library has a dedicated Local Studies Room and collection. Specialised assistance is available upon request. Appointments may be required for more complex inquiries.

READER SERVICES

The library has a dedicated Readers Advice Corner with resources and trained staff to assist with recreational reading inquiries. The library also supports book clubs by providing multiple copies of the same title and by providing notes. Please contact library staff if your book club requires some assistance.

RESERVATIONS

Borrowers are able to reserve library materials that are on loan. Reserved items will be held for one week.

COMPUTERS

The library has 13 public computers with Internet access, word processing, and spreadsheeting software, and printing facilities (charges apply for printing). Library members are entitled to free computer use, with time limits applying. Computer bookings may be made in person or by telephone, and the member’s card must be presented.

DATA PROJECTOR HIRE

The library has a data projector which is available for hire (conditions apply). Please ask the Library staff for more information about this equipment.

FAXING SERVICE

A faxing service (sending and receiving) is available. Charges apply.

LAMINATING SERVICE

A laminating service (maximum size of A3) is available for use by library visitors. Charges apply.

MEETING ROOM HIRE

The library has a meeting room available for hire by the public (conditions apply). Please ask the Library staff for more information about this facility.

MICROFILM PRINTING

A microfilm reader/printer is available for use by library visitors. Library staff will explain how to use the reader/printer if required. Bookings may be required.

PHOTOCOPYING

A self-service photocopier is available for use by library visitors. Charges apply.

SCANNING

A self-service scan to USB facility is available on the library photocopier. Charges apply.
