Australia’s Biggest Obstacle Course Is Coming
30 November 2018
INVERELL’S Varley Oval will be transformed into a mesmerising pop-up playground when Australia’s biggest inflatable obstacle course arrives in town in December.
The course, designed specifically for children between the ages of 4 and 12 years is a series of inflatable climbing walls, tunnels and play elements aimed at helping children develop healthy, active habits.
Inverell Shire Council mayor Paul Harmon says the course, known as Obstacool, will be in town for two days on 13-14 December.
“Council is bringing Obstacool to Inverell as the finale to our 2018 youth program and thanks to NSW Government funding, it’s free to participate”.
Upon confirming the Obstacool visit to Inverell, Cr Harmon explained schools across the shire were contacted and invited to book in student groups.
“I’m delighted to see we have seven schools booked in for the event and we have school groups coming from as far afield as Gravesend, Yetman, and Bonshaw to enjoy the course”.
It’s terrific to hear many of the schools have incorporated a visit to Obstacool into their end of year rewards program. We have the local home schoolers group attending as well”.
Over the two day event, Cr Harmon says more than 1,000 children are expected to participate.
“While the course is fully booked during school hours, we do have free sessions available on Thursday 13 December”.
Free access for children will be available between 3:00 pm and 5:45 pm on Thursday 13 December. Each session lasts 45 minutes and commences on the hour. Children must be checked in by a parent or guardian.
Admission is free and participation is limited to children aged between 4 and 12 years. Participants are advised to wear shoes suitable for running and comfortable clothes.
