New fitness circuit in Campbell Park

KEEPING fit just became a lot easier, with a new set of gym equipment now in place at Inverell’s Campbell Park.

Council mayor, Paul Harmon toured the river-side site recently to inspect the new fitness equipment, which is located alongside the fenced children’s playground and now open to the public.

“The former outdoor gym had been in place for around 12 years and there were nine different piece of equipment, with several well worn units needing to be updated”.

The mayor explained Council made the decision to replace the nine existing units with 12 different exercise stations, to provide a wider array of equipment which would cater to a variety of fitness levels.

“New rubber soft fall has also been installed underfoot, which also provides added safety for users”.

Campbell Park is the shire’s most popular park, with more than 78 per cent of residents using the park throughout the year.

Cr Harmon says the new outdoor gym comes on the back of recent renovations of the park’s public amenities block and also additional solar lighting along the riverside path.

“These improvements reflect Council’s commitment to encourage our community to enjoy the outdoors and provide cost-free opportunities to keep fit”.

With a dozen new exercise options, users will now be able to choose from an elliptical trainer and stretch station, step up stations, dexterity builder and shoulder mobility wheel.

Each of the pieces of gym equipment also include diagrams to help users familiarise themselves with the equipment and exercise at their own pace.
