Inverell Maxing the Vax

7 October 2021

GETTING vaccinated for COVID-19 in the Inverell Shire has never been easier, with yet another walk-in vaccination clinic being held on Friday, 8 October: this time with the Pfizer vaccine on offer.

Thanks to a collaboration between Armajun Aboriginal Health Service, UNE Life and Hunter New England Health, the Pfizer vaccination will be available to Inverell Shire residents, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, over the age of 12 at the Linking Together Centre between 9am and 3pm tomorrow.

Inverell Shire Council’s deputy mayor, Anthony Michael welcomed the news and encouraged all shire residents who have not received a shot of the vaccine, or are due for their second Pfizer dose, to participate in the clinic.

“This is the first walk-in Pfizer clinic to be held in Inverell, which is good news for our younger residents and those who have been on a waiting list with a local provider.”

“I encourage all those who have not received their first vaccination, or those who are approaching the need for their second Pfizer shot, to pull up their sleeve on Friday.”

“There will be Armajun GPs, nurses, Aboriginal health workers and Hunter New England Health staff present on the day to help out with any questions or queries that you may have surrounding the vaccine.”

Participants are asked to bring along their Medicare card and a pen, as well as a chair, a hat and a water bottle, as wait times are to be expected.

Residents are also reminded to practice social distancing and wear a mask.

Monday, 11 October is D-Day for the state’s reopening, and residents are being reminded that those who have received no doses, or only 1 dose, of the vaccine will be unable to enjoy the freedoms of those who are fully vaccinated.

“81.3% of Inverell Shire residents have already received their first dose of the COVID vaccination and almost 50% of residents are now fully vaccinated, and this clinic is a good opportunity to boost these rates even more, just in time for the reopening of the state on Monday.”

“When the state takes its first steps towards reopening on Monday, those who are not fully vaccinated will only be able to leave their home for essential reasons.”
