Increased Safety at Inverell Equestrian Centre
23 July 2024
PARTICIPANTS and spectators can feel safer at the Inverell Equestrian Centre, with the installation of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
Inverell Shire Council partnered with Inverell Working Equitation Group in successfully obtaining funding through the NSW Government’s Local Sport Defibrillator Program.
Due to the level and type of use of the facility, a need was identified for the installation of an AED to ensure prompt medical attention in the event of a heart related incident.
Statistics show that if a person receives a shock from an AED within the first minute after cardiac arrest, 9 out of 10 patients may survive.
Anyone can use a defibrillator as they have verbal and visual instructions to guide you. You cannot hurt someone by using a defibrillator and a defibrillator only shocks a person who is in cardiac arrest.
The AED will be serviced on an annual basis to ensure the unit is capable of performing if required.
