Cricket greats to visit Inverell

19 February 2021

Australian cricket greats Greg Matthews, Julia Price and current Melbourne Renegade, Josh Lalor, are just some of the exciting names set to be part of the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA) Masters Tour coming to Inverell on February 27 and 28 2021.

Inverell Shire Council mayor, Paul Harmon says he’s thrilled Inverell will be hosting the visit from Australian Cricketers’ Association and says locals will have a chance to see some of their favourite stars in action.

“Headline players include fan favourite, Greg Matthews, through to current Big Bash players such as the Renegades’ Josh Lalor as well as two-time World Cup champion Julia Price”.

The two-day visit will include cricket clinics on Saturday 27th and a T20 match on Sunday from 1pm with visiting stars and Inverell Cricket Association players in action. Entry to Varley Oval will be by gold coin donation.

“There will be a canteen in operation and also the Inverell Saints are running the bar for the T20 game, so we hope to see a big crowd along to enjoy the afternoon”.

Kelly Applebee, ACA General Manager – Member Programs and Relations said the association is excited to help out the local cricket scene.

“The ACA is excited to bring its Masters program to Inverell and give back to a community which was impacted by the bushfires last summer,” she said.

“Our players place an enormous emphasis on helping out the community and we’re looking forward to connecting with local cricket clubs and community members, and the tour will also provide a unique opportunity for local families to rub shoulders with some greats of the game.”

COVID-19 safety measures will be in place at all events, and numbers will be capped at 3000 people at the unticketed T20 match. Details of the two-day visit are:
