Council Supports 2025 Back to Ashford Reunion

THE Ashford Business Council has approached Inverell Shire Council with a request for financial support to fund the upcoming Back to Ashford Reunion. Scheduled for the Easter long weekend, 19–20 April 2025, the event invites past and present residents, workers, and students to reconnect in the township of Ashford.

The reunion, previously held in 2010, 2012, and 2018, is anticipated to draw 500 attendees. Highlights will include food and market stalls, activities in the main street and Community Hall, and visits to notable local landmarks such as Ashford Central School, Sunhaven Aged Care Facility, and the Ashford Ambulance Station. Events will culminate at the Recreation Ground on Sunday.

Organisers, led by Michael Lewis, President of the Ashford Business Council, have outlined a draft budget totalling $4,191. The requested donation would cover essential costs, including public liability insurance, entertainment, transportation from Inverell, and activities for children.

The event is expected to boost the local economy, with many visitors anticipated to stay in Inverell due to limited accommodation options in Ashford. Organisers aim to secure a bus service for convenient transportation between the two towns.

Inverell Shire Council determined to support the event and has allocated funding from the Ashford Village Development Vote.
