Council Secures $1.4M for Inverell Netball Courts Replacement

INVERELL Shire Council is pleased to announce it has been awarded $1.4 million in Federal Government funding to replace six ageing netball courts at the Inverell Sports Complex.
The funding, secured through the Federal Government’s Play Our Way Funding Program, will enable the completion of Phase 2 of the Netball Courts Replacement Project, ensuring the facilities meet the needs of the community for years to come.
The existing six courts at the Inverell Netball Complex are experiencing significant cracking and surface deterioration presenting a potential risk to players. The new courts will be constructed with a concrete base and a single-colour plexipave surface, delivering a safer and more durable solution.
This project aims to provide accessible, welcoming, and inclusive facilities, with a particular focus on encouraging participation in sport and physical activity among women and girls.
In 2021, Inverell Shire Council completed Phase 1 of the project, replacing two asphalt “show courts” with funding from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund. The successful delivery of this stage set the foundation for the broader redevelopment.
The total project cost for Phase 2 is $1,554,000.00 with the Federal Government’s grant covering $1,404,000.00 and the remaining $150,000.00 funded by Council.
Council will work closely with the Inverell Netball Association to minimise disruptions during the project. The goal is to maintain access to the facility where possible and keep the community informed throughout the construction process.
This exciting development underscores Council’s commitment to investing in quality infrastructure that meets the needs of the Inverell community. The completion of this project will restore the Inverell Netball Complex to a high-quality, safe, and accessible facility that can host a range of activities and events.
