A-Z Youth Guide
9 May 2018
BUSINESSES, clubs and service organisations are being urged to add their details to a new A-Z Youth Directory publication being developed by Inverell Shire Council.
Council mayor Paul Harmon says the directory will highlight pathways for youth to get involved in local clubs, programs, sport and volunteering and is free to businesses and organisations.
“Council has connected with over 200 young people so far this year as part of our It Starts with You youth opportunities program. What’s clear is we have many terrific young people in the shire who are keen to be involved and give back to their community”.
“We want to make sure we are connecting our young people with the opportunities available”.
Council will provide a free printed copy of the guide to all youth attending the Careers and Youth Choices Expo at Varley Oval on 20 June.
“More than 700 students are expected to descend upon Varley Oval for the event, with exhibitors attending from across New South Wales providing information on tertiary education, employment options, apprenticeships and gap year options”.
“We will also have an e-version of the directory available at our website, and printed versions will be available to new families moving into the shire”.
Cr Harmon says the success of the directory will be built upon the number of organisations adding their details and showing the diversity of services available.
“We would like to hear from businesses and non-profits that offer youth targeted programs, sports clubs and even organisations that provide programs to help youth volunteer and increase skills, such as the Rural Fire Service”.
Organisations wishing to be listed in the new publication will be required to complete a form listing their details and services. There is no charge to participating organisations.
Copies of the form can be downloaded below or a link is available via www.facebook.com/InverellCouncil.
