Inverell Sewerage Treatment Plant Rehabilitation
The two aeration tanks at the Inverell Sewage Treatment Plant require major repairs to the floors and walls.
As the repairs require each of the tanks to be taken "off-line" while the work is completed and there is not sufficient capacity to operate with only one tank in service, Council is constructing another aeration tank to operate on a temporary basis. This temporary tank will form the basis for a permanent capacity upgrade in the future if this becomes necessary.
Demolition of the old trickling filter plant infrastructure has been completed and the site is now ready for the construction of the additional aeration tank which will get underway in 2016 for completion in 2017.
Council considered tenders received for the construction of the new aeration tank at the 26th October 2016 Council meeting and awarded the tender to Eire Constructions Pty Ltd of Wauchope, NSW, for the amount of $1,919,997 GST Excl. The contract period is 28 weeks with works under the contract expected to be complete by end of May 2017.
The photos below show geotechnical investigations, demolition work, and construction of a water service to the contractor’s temporary amenities building at the site of the new works.
