Inverell Public Open Space Strategy
7 August 2015
In acknowledging the value that parks and reserves contribute to a positive lifestyle, Inverell Shire Council has resolved to prepare a Public Open Space Strategy.
The Inverell Public Open Space Strategy will:
- Identify and confirm Council owned and managed public open space;
- Classify the existing public open space network;
- Identify current uses and infrastructure; and
- Make recommendations for future open space planning and management.
Council's Manager Development Services, Anthony Alliston says "the Public Open Space Strategy will provide Council with an overarching framework to direct public open space planning and management in a coordinated, sustainable and effective manner. It will also assist the community in understanding the current intentions, and in some cases, what the future intentions are for parks and reserves in Inverell".
ROSS Planning have been engaged by Council to prepare the Public Open Space Strategy for Inverell in accordance with the adopted project brief and communications strategy.
In the coming months ROSS Planning will be undertaking targeted consultation with the community including the Inverell Sports Council and key user groups. ROSS Planning will also co-rdinate online surveys through Council's website and Facebook page. Additional community consultation will be undertaken as the Open Space Strategy progresses.
