Wind Farms

Council has recognised the need for, and growing local interest in, alternative and renewable energy sources. Energy generated from wind farms and small wind turbines is one such renewable source.

There are currently two wind farms that fall within the Inverell Local Government Area; White Rock Wind Farm and Sapphire Wind Farm. Select the links below to find out more about the wind farms in our area.

Sapphire Wind Farm

The Sapphire Wind Farm is located in the Kings Plains area of New South Wales, 18 kilometres west of Glen Innes and 28 kilometres east of Inverell, New South Wales. The project which comprises 75 x Vestas V126 3.6 MW wind turbine generators.

White Rock Wind Farm

The White Rock Wind Farm is located in the New England Tablelands region of New South Wales, approximately 24 kilometres west of Glen Innes, New South Wales and 47km east of Inverell and includes the operation of up to 119 turbines.
